Oberon's ArcShield™ is manufactured by an injection molding process with a mix of polycarbonate and Oberon’s proprietary ArcX™ energy absorbing material.

This high-tech material allows a visible light transmission of an amazing 61%. The ArcShield arc rating (ATPV) is 12 cal/cm². The outer surface is available with Oberon’s proprietary material Silicote™-1 scratch resistant coating (up to five times longer product life). The deluxe version of the ArcShield comes with a permanent antifog coating on the inner surface. It comes standard with both upper and lower crown, plus side shield extenders. The upper and lower crown protects the forehead and chin. Side extenders give side head coverage beyond the ears with 20’’ of facial coverage from one side around to the other side. The ArcShield can be used with Oberon’s adjustable ratchet headgear or with a slotted hard cap with Slot-Fit™ adaptors.

Deluxe Faceshields are molded from durable polycarbonate and are intended for protection in Hazard Risk Category 2 applications.

Arc rating of 12 cal/cm² ATPV.
Scratch-resistant exterior coating with a permanent antifog coating on the interior.
Tested to ASTM F-2178-02a and ANSI Z87.1-2003.
Comply with NFPA 70E 2009.

Window has 14"x8" vision area, 0.105" thickness, two 6" side shield extenders, two 4’’ crowns (upper and lower).

The ArcShield is designed to provide protection from low-level energy arc flash hazards. According to NFPA 70E Hazard Risk Category (HRC) levels, this shield should be used to protect electrical workers from hazards similar to the required minimum of HRC2 or below. Be aware that the arc rating (ATPV) of fabrics and faceshields is based on the results of sufficient heat transfer through the fabrics and faceshields to indicate a 50% probability of a second-degree burn based on the Stoll curve. Always perform a hazard analysis and use higher protection than the hazard you are facing.

Cleaning Instructions & Maintenance

Always keep faceshield clean for the best, safest vision. The ArcShield can be cleaned with water and mild soap. The ArcShield should be free of contaminants. Flammable contaminants can reduce protection level. Replace faceshield when scratched.
