Digital Recorder/Data Logger, DM-II Pro FAQs

Q) I am recording a 3 phase delta circuit, however the voltage readings I am getting appear to be incorrect. What is the cause?

A) This indicates that the DM-II is not properly connected. The correct connection is shown in the schematic on the phase set up screen. It calls for A phase to V1 (blk), B phase to COM (yel), C phase to V3 (blu) and on V2 there is no connection.

Q) I am recording a "High Leg Delta" system, using the 3 phase 4 wire configuration, however my phase to phase voltages are incorrect. What is the cause?

A) The 3rd phase is being created by two step-up transformers. Therefore, the individual phase voltages are not 120 out of phase. They are actually 90, 90 and 180. Since the phase to phase voltages are calculated using Carnot's relation which uses 120, these readings are erroneous. To obtain the correct recordings, the delta and single phase circuits must be recorded separately.
